I am happy to inform you that the 2nd Cabales Clan Grand Reunion was successfully celebrated last April 23, 2004 at the Bagacay-Unat Elementary School in Bagacay, Ibajay, Aklan.  For those that are not familiar, Bagacay is a barangay about 3 kilometers from the town proper where the Cabales bloodline originated.

While that reunion was not as heavily attended as the first one held in January 2003, it was still a happy occasion, a time for family bonding and an opportunity to welcome long lost relatives.  It was celebrated on the Friday preceding the Barangay fiesta which was on April 23.

For the update of everybody, the following were the highlights and other details of the reunion:

1.        The reunion started at 9 AM with the registration and socialization.

Dear Everyone,

I just arrived from Ibajay, Aklan to look into some of the preparations for the Cabales Clan Reunion in January 2005 particularly the venue where I am in charged of.  As agreed during the 2nd reunion last April 25, 2004, we will have the 3rd Reunion in Ibajay proper in the beach owned by the heirs of Tomas Cabales.

Except for an unfinished bamboo fence and a small 2 bedroom cottage with a toilet, there are no other structures in this more than 9,000 square meter lot.  This is where we will build a pavilion to be our central/common area.  It will be 14 by 24 meter structure with 10 posts on concrete footings.  If finances permit, will add on another toilet, a dirty kitchen and some smaller cottages by the beach.  If, realized we will have a permanent place for our yearly reunions.

I volunteered to build the pavilion by myself  though I would appreciate it very much if some would help me do it by way of some donations.  I realized that we have to fix the place a bit and put in some basic ameneties such as additional toilets and others.  So if you intend to help, please sound off.  Thanks!

During our last reunion in April of this year, we discussed of a recurring problem of billeting especially for non-Ibajay based family members and those that have lost contact for 1 or more generations.  Hence, I opened the idea of offering the beach for any member of the clan to build his own rest house in our beach property subject to mutually accepted arrangements.  This has to be ironed out though and I am open to suggestions on this matter.

May I hear from you and see you all in January!

Venue for the CABALES CLAN Reunion
Announcement!
Dear Everyone,

Good Day to all of you.  I am addressing this to all guys and gals who are related to the Cabales Clan.  If you are not interested please say so, so that I will exclude your names in sunbsequent updates.

The 3rd Annual Cabales Clan Reunion will be held on 21 January 2005 in Ibajay, Aklan.  As usual, it is the Friday immediately preceeding the Ati-Ati Festival in Ibajay, normally held on the 3rd Sunday of January (or 2nd to the last Sunday if there are 5 Sundays in January).  It is a potluck activity though some members have pledged donations of food, raffle and game prizes.  For related information, you may visit our site at http://cabalesclan.tripod.com

Roughly, the reunion will start early with registration and the filling up of information forms.  There will be games with prizes for children and adults.  There will also be raffle prizes.  Since it will be on a beautiful beach at the mounth of Ibajay River, others may opt to go swimming especially the kids.

The venue for this year's reunion will be the beach property owned by the late Tomas Cabales in Ilawod, Ibajay just a few meters behind the Municipal Hall.  The 9,000+ square meter property is practically bare with man made structures except an old cottage we built 4 years ago.  At present, we are preparing for the construction of a pavillion in the place as our activity area.  (We also have a very big tent donated earlier by Fred/Boy Cabales of Florida for the 1st Cabales Reuinion in 2003.)  Merwin Cabales of Kalibo/Ibajay is overseeing the cutting of coco lumber in Bagacay for the pavillion.  Construction proper will commence shortly after Xmas when all the materials would have been assembled.

I am sending this letter to solicit support for the development of the property which shall be the venue for for our future reunions.  Initially, I am funding the endeavor but I can't do this by myself so I am seeking for voluntary from those that are willing.  So far, some already sent donations and pledges.  My I therefore acknowledge the early donation of (Lolo and Lola)Anselmo and Elenita Cabales of San Diego, California who just returned to the US last week from a brief vacation to the Philippines.  I would also thank in advance, (Tito and Tita) Fred and Fannie Cabales of Jacksonville, Florida for thier pledge of support. Donations are being managed by Judith Cabales Sajise delos Reyes of Bagacay, our elected treasurer.

Thank you very much.
